Personal presentation

Professor of Human Anatomy at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) and specialist in Uropathology, Urogenital Carcinogenesis, Nanomedicine and Drug Development. He holds a Masters, Doctorate and Post-Doctorate degrees from UNICAMP. He is an international member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO). Founding Partner of NANOIMMUNOTHERAPY PHARMA LTDA, a company dedicated to the development of medicines for human and veterinary use. He has published several scientific articles in national and international journals with a selective editorial policy, as well as book chapters. It has patents filed in Brazil and abroad and registered trademarks, with emphasis on the development process of the OncoTherad immunotherapy. He is on the Top 10,000 list of Latin America's Most Influential Researchers by the Alper-Doger (AD) Scientific Index 2021. He has received numerous awards for his scientific contribution, including the UNICAMP 2020 Inventors Award in the Licensed Technology and Spin-Off Creation categories; "Newton Prado" Medal (2018) for relevant services rendered to the community; Prof. Nelson Rodrigues Netto Jr. of Urology (2018) and; INOVA UNICAMP Award for Initiation to Innovation (2018); in addition to several awards at scientific events. After 15 years of research into urogenital carcinogenesis and nanotechnology, he developed the first 100% Brazilian immunotherapy within a public university. Immunotherapy named OncoTherad (MRB-CFI-1) has been shown to have great potential in reducing different solid tumors. As a result of pre-clinical and clinical studies, in animals and humans, of OncoTherad immunotherapy (MRB-CFI-1), Dr. Wagner José Fávaro created the Center for Immunotherapy and Inflammatory Diseases (CIDI)/UNICAMP, acting as coordinator general. He coordinated the International Cooperation in Research and Development Project by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications (MCTIC) with Slovenia (2014). He was the main representative of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCTI) at the Consortium Brazil European Community, called NANoREG (The common European approach to regulatory testing of Manufactured Nanomaterials) for the establishment of assessment protocols for nanomaterials.

Research activities

His present research interests are uropathology, carcinogenesis, urogenital tumors, immunotherapy, regenerative medicine and nanobiotechnology in oncology. Responsible for the development of the OncoTherad immunomodulator, which has therapeutic application in several tumors.

Professor of Human Anatomy for different courses in the health and biological sciences. Creator of the Youtube channel: Anatomia Unicamp.
